I left my home country of Iran at the age of 16 to move to the UK without speaking proper English. This was long before social media blurred global cultural boundaries, so I likely experienced one of the last true 'culture shocks'.

Now, 15 years later, if someone asks me where I'm from, I'm not sure how to answer.

In that spirit, I sit down with 'normal' people to have conversations about their past and life in general within the context of where they come from.

Listening to others might be a way to make sense of my own experience.
